Filling Your Energy Bank

In case you missed it, last week, I blogged about energy budgeting. What exactly does that look like for introverts vs. extroverts, how to manage your energy correctly, and a few modalities that I use to stay intentional and avoid energetic debt.

This week I wanted to dive a little further into what this looks like every week for me. As I begin a week, I start it inflow. I tune into my body on Mondays, listening to what it needs to refill my energy bank after my weekend. Sometimes this may look like a day of rest, and other times it is a day spent catching up with friends, socializing. It is about the unscheduled day and waking up with the freedom to nourish my body in whatever way feels right at that moment. Because I allow myself the chance to refuel on Mondays, I can show up big on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, and by the time Friday afternoon rolls around, I know this is quitting time; my energy bank is empty.

Because I have set my week up like this, I spend my Fridays On My Own. My Fridays allow me the chance to refill after a whole week of work; I spend my night internally processing and accessing my week. Most like to unwind by heading out to the bar and having a few too many beverages, but this only sets you up for a weekend hungover and exhausted.

A great technique to ensure your routine is working for you is to review and access. Take a look back at your week; how did you perform? Were you jazzed about your week or feeling burnout before it even started? Did you allow yourself enough time to recoup after the entire day in the office, or did you stay up too late binging your new favorite show? Review and adjust accordingly.

It is the intentionality and boundaries that you instill that will help you to create a productive schedule to refill that energy bank. I encourage you to incorporate more downtime in your calendar so that it becomes a non-negotiable part of your week.

As always, my friend, I rise, you rise.
